The Intel 875P motherboard, also known as the Springdale motherboard, was released in the first quarter of 2002. The Intel 875P is integrated into Intel's 82875P memory controller hub. The interface configuration on the motherboard includes the standard ports for that period of time.
Socket
The Intel 875P uses the 478-pin configuration on the central processing unit socket. This socket uses zero-insertion-force technology to aid in the installation of a central processing unit. Compatible processors include later models of Intel Pentium 4 and Celeron processors. Earlier models of Pentium 4 processors use the 423-pin sockets and do not work on this motherboard chipset.
Ports
The Intel 875P motherboard has a number of interface ports and slots on the board. The board has four memory slots, compatible with up to four gigabytes of system memory. An AGP slot and five PCI slots make up the expansion card capabilities. Interface ports include eight USB 2.0 ports, two SATA interfaces, two PATA interfaces, a PS/2 port and a floppy drive interface.
BIOS
The Intel 875P uses the Intel/AMI BIOS. The BIOS -- or Basic Input Output System -- allows for certain configuration changes on the motherboard. These changes can alter the boot order of the computer, hardware monitoring, fan control and many other options.
