Flash Ecs Bios

If your ECS, or EliteGroup Computer Systems, system has problems with the operating system or hardware after an upgrade, flash the ECS Basic Input Output System (BIOS). Your ECS BIOS is a vital software application installed on your motherboard that controls many of the interactions between your hardware and operating system. ECS systems have either an Award or AMI BIOS. The BIOS on your ECS system varies based on when and where your computer was manufactured.

Instructions

1. Restart your computer.

2. Press the BIOS entry key when your system first boots. The key is displayed on the first screen during the boot procedure.

3. Write down the name and model of your motherboard along with the version number of your BIOS.

4. Exit the BIOS. The key is typically "F10," but may vary based upon the year the computer was made.

5. Visit the ECS website listed in the Resources section.

6. Enter your system information in the ECS search box and press "Enter."

7. Press the link for the latest BIOS version for your system.

8. Press the "Download" button at the bottom of the screen to download your file.

9. Visit the ECS resource "Use Flash Utility" for detailed instructions for each type of flash utility ECS uses. The utility included with your BIOS update file varies based upon your motherboard type, manufacturer year and BIOS version.

10. Unzip the downloaded file using any compression software supporting .zip files, or right-click the file and choose "Extract All." This only applies to Windows XP and higher operating systems.

11. Open the extracted folder.

12. Double-click the flash utility tool, which has the ".exe" file extension.

13. Go to the "File" menu and choose "Open."

14. Choose the BIOS update file from the extracted folder. Once you browse to the folder, the file you need is the only file displayed.

15. Follow the system prompts or press "Flash BIOS" to start the flash process.

16. Restart your system when prompted.
