The Radeon HD 4870 X2 is a fairly high-end graphics card, as it has 2 gigabytes of dedicated GDDR5 memory and a 900MHz core clock speed. That is much more performance than many games require, but gamers always want the best, and this card is close to it. It is a two-slot card, which means that it requires the space of two regular-sized graphics cards. Before attempting to install it, make sure that you not only have the space for it in your computer, but that your power supply supports it as well.
Instructions
Installing the Graphics Card
1. Disable any existing display adapter drivers by going to Device Manager, Display Adapters, Right Click and Disable.
2. Open your computer case by removing the large screw holding either the left or right panel on.
3. Remove any steel placeholder on the back of the computer, as it would prevent you from installing any PCI based hardware.
4. Locate an open PCI-express slot and insert the card. You may have to make room for it by rearranging power supply cables.
5. Connect the 2x3-pin PCIeR power connector and 2x4-pin PCIeR power connector, as these power both the card and the fan on the card.
6. Reassemble the case and try to power the computer on. If it powers, you have successfully installed your new graphics card. Run the CD-ROM containing the drivers and software.
