Overclocking a CPU is a relatively simple task, if your hardware allows it.
The AMD 62 X2 4000+ from ATI Technologies was, when it was first released, a mid-range processor with 1MB of L2 memory cache and a standard clock speed of 2.1GHz. Overclocking this processor is a simple task that an experienced PC owner can do in a matter of minutes, and can extending the life of a desktop PC for a long time.
Instructions
1. Restart your computer, as it is the only way to access your computer's BIOS.
2. Press F2 when your computer first reboots to enter your BIOS. Depending on your motherboard, you may have to press F10 or Delete instead of F2.
3. Enter your "Advanced CPU Options" submenu. This will show you a screen with both your front-side bus speeds and your processor's multiplier, which will read 10.5x.
4. Increase your front-side bus speeds by small increments. Remember that your overall processor speed can be calculated by multiplying your front-side bus speed with your multiplier.
5. Exit your BIOS, saving your options before your PC restarts. Repeat Steps 1 through 4 as necessary until your processor is to your liking.
