A graphics card (aka video card) is important hardware that allows you to view content on your computer. Graphics cards vary in design, memory, speed and visual quality, depending on the manufacturer. Some of the largest producers of graphics cards include NVIDIA, AMD and Intel. Whether you are using Windows or Mac OSX, it is important to find out what graphics card you are using so you can install compatible applications.

Mac Users
1. Click the "Apple" logo and click "About This Mac." A new dialog box launches displaying information about your operating system.
2. Click the "More Info" button. A larger dialog box launches. Click the drop-down arrow next to "Hardware" to launch the sub-menu.
3. Select "Graphics/displays." You should see the graphics card you have on the right pane. You should also see detailed information about the graphics card, including memory size and chipset model.
Windows Vista and 7 Users
4. Click the Windows "Start" menu and click the "Control Panel" to launch the Control Panel.
5. Click "Appearance and Personalization" and click "Personalization."
6. Click "Display Settings" and click "Advanced Settings. Click the "Adapter" tab. You should see the graphics card you are using
